The IAA TRANSPORTATION took place at the Deutsche Messe exhibition grounds in Hannover, Germany, running from September 15 to September 20, 2026. Alcoa® Wheels has participated in the event with our latest innovations.
As the world’s leading trade show and international platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, buses, and the transport sector, IAA TRANSPORTATION provides a stage for forward-looking discussions on sustainability, infrastructure, and technology. Under the motto “We deliver,” IAA TRANSPORTATION highlights the industry’s push toward decarbonization, digitalization, and supply chain efficiency. More than 140,000 visitors attended IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover.
The 2026 event heavily showcased long-range electric trucks (hitting around 700 km per charge), hydrogen fuel-cell commercial vehicles, fast megawatt-charging solutions, and logistics AI software. Industry leaders and major OEMs used the event to address both technological leaps and the hurdles facing fleet adoption, such as lagging charging infrastructure and high energy costs.
Howmet Wheel Systems presented its strongest and lightest Ultra ONE® Alcoa® Wheels made of the MagnaForce® alloy as well as the full range of its accessory products for Alcoa® Wheels.
As a major highlight of our leading-edge engineering, we announced our aerodynamic smart wheel concept Dura-Stream® in Europe. This technology – a wheel and cover combination – is designed and shaped to allow airflow smoothly around the wheel. It will be available soon with a 22.5” x 9.00” inset: 153 mm, with the max load capacity of 4250 kg. It is suitable for truck front axles and offers a fuel-efficiency benefit up to 3.3%.**
Additionally, visitors were able to experience our Green Concept Wheel, produced with 80 percent less CO2.
The ‘Green Concept Wheel’ 22.5×9.00 Ultra ONE® Dura-Bright® has an 80 percent reduced CO2 production footprint compared to the standard 22.5×9.00 Ultra ONE® Dura-Bright® wheel. This significant reduction was made possible by several factors along the process flow. Some of the contributors to this great result are the source of aluminium as well as electricity.
Howmet Wheels Systems Europe with its production facility in Székesfehérvár, is continuously striving for sustainable product solutions. It focuses not only on use, where the Alcoa® Wheels offer weight reduction and fuel consumption reduction opportunities, but also on other aspects such as the manufacturing process of the wheels. The green concept wheel shows the dedication to supporting the commercial transportation industry in achieving the strong CO2 emission goals throughout the European markets.
The other major highlight of the IAA presence is that Howmet Wheel Systems has now released a completely new appearance for the European Alcoa® Wheels App, with three additional languages: Polish, Italian and French for Android and iOS devices.
In this update, the major highlight of the app is the “Dura-Bright® Your Ride“ augmented reality feature, where users can take a photo of their own truck and virtually retrofit their vehicle with easy-to-clean and beautiful-looking Alcoa® Dura-Bright® wheels. Users can select from a range of up to four of our most common Alcoa® Dura-Bright® wheel sizes to virtually fit their vehicle. They can download or share the result of their virtually fitted Dura-Bright® vehicle afterwards.
The app’s new additions include also the warranty registration form, a language selection function, and a navigation function which allows users to map the location of the nearest authorized Alcoa® Wheels distributor.
Besides the new additions to the mobile app, the popular functions allow users to calculate weight and fuel savings opportunities with the Alcoa® Wheels calculation tools and find out more about the fleet’s individual return on investment potential. Users can further check out the extensive European Alcoa® wheels and accessories portfolio. One of the main features enables users to identify compatible valves for their Alcoa® wheels for suitable valve-mounted tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). The App also provides maintenance and cleaning recommendations for Alcoa® wheels.
