Dura-Stream® – from a smart wheel concept to actual savings
Howmet Wheel System’s latest innovation, Dura-Stream®, the aerodynamic smart wheel designed and shaped to let air flow smoothly around your wheel, coming soon with the size of 22.5 x 9.00, inset: 153mm and with the max load capacity: 4250 kg. Suitable for truck front axles with fuel efficiency benefit up to 3.3%*.

The Green Concept Wheel: Produced with 80% Less CO2
The ‘Green Concept Wheel’ 22.5×9.00 Ultra ONE® Dura-Bright® has a more than 80% reduced CO2 production footprint compared to our standard 22.5×9.00 Ultra ONE® Dura-Bright® wheel. This significant reduction was made possible by several factors along the process flow. Some of the contributors for this great result are the source of aluminium as well as the electricity. We at Howmet are continuously striving for sustainable product solutions. Not only in use, where our Alcoa® wheels offer weight reduction and fuel consumption reduction opportunities but also in any other scope such as the manufacturing process of the wheels. The green concept wheel shows our dedication in supporting the commercial transportation industry in achieving the strong CO2 emission goals throughout the European markets.
European Alcoa® Wheels App – Dura-Bright® Your Ride
Howmet Wheel Systems Europe has now released a completely new appearance with three additional languages: Polish, Italian and French for its mobile application for Android and iOS devices.
In this update the major highlight of the app is the “Dura-Bright® Your Ride“ augmented reality feature, where users can take a photo of their own truck and virtually retrofit their vehicle with easy to clean and beautiful looking Alcoa® Dura-Bright® wheels. Users can select from a range of up to four of our most common Alcoa® Dura-Bright® wheel sizes to virtually fit their vehicle. They can download or share the result of their virtual Dura-Bright® fitted vehicle afterwards.
The app new additions include also the warranty registration form, language selection function, navigation function which allows users to mapping the location of the closest Alcoa® Wheels authorized distributor.
Besides the new additions of the mobile app, the popular functions allow users to calculate weight and fuel savings opportunities with the Alcoa® Wheels calculation tools and find out more about the fleet´s individual return on invest potential. Users can further check out the extensive European Alcoa® wheel and accessories portfolio. One of the main features enables users to identify compatible valves for their Alcoa® wheels for suitable valve mounted tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). The App also provides maintenance and cleaning recommendations for Alcoa® wheels.
How Alcoa® wheels can contribute to a more sustainable and efficient fleet
Alcoa® wheels are forged from a single piece of aluminium, making them up to 51% lighter as of the same size of steel wheel, allowing to increase payload.
Constant Speed test (CST) runs with a heavy-duty semi-trailer combination, based on Annex VIII of Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2400 and additional fuel consumption test results show that Alcoa® wheels can save up to 1.29% fuel compared to two models of steel wheels used on the same test truck/trailer combination (find the full test report on https://www.alcoawheels.com/europe/en/benefits/#fuel-savings).
Alcoa® wheels are available in a variety of surface options, including the easy-care, corrosion-resistant Dura-Bright® EVO. Alcoa® wheels are also available as Ultra ONE® wheels. Alcoa® Ultra ONE® wheels are made possible with the breakthrough, proprietary MagnaForce® alloy technology. With added strength when compared to the industry standard, MagnaForce® alloy enables an even stronger wheel, making Ultra ONE® wheels the strongest Alcoa® wheels.
